5 ways to Lose Weight during the holidays

Temptations abound during the holiday season! Chocolates, popcorn, candy and desserts seem to be staring you in the face everywhere you turn and can derail you from your weight loss goals. Dr. Pacholec has compiled a list of some of the best ways to ward off temptation and stick to your goals during the holiday season. Read below for more tips on how to lose weight successfully before the new year!

  1. Limit Portion Sizes: If you are going to indulge in some merry cocktails and treats over the holidays, know your limits! Grab a small appetizer size plate and don't overfill it. Keep a food diary or use our mobile app, Pacholec MD to track your portion sizes, food choices and count calories. Set a daily limit for yourself - either by total calories to consume or set a daily limit on sweets so you have a goal. Once you hit the limit, remember to hit the brakes and save any other indulgences for the following day. 
  2. Try Intermittent Fasting: Intermittent fasting is a great way to successfully lose weight and keep it off. There are many different intervals you can try and our blog post on Keto Diet and Hormones goes into great detail describing all the different methods. Setting a timeframe for eating for yourself will help to discourage any negative eating habits (like late night snacking) and help you control your food intake and help you make better food choices.
